Our Butcher: Il-Kurubin
Il-Kurubin is the nickname of the family Schembri who had opened a butcher shop in 1910 in Ħaż-Żebbuġ and it still operates under the third generation, Antonio, Joseph and Conrad.
Conrad Schembri is running the business now and is a very passionate, skilled and creative butcher while his father Joseph gives him a helping hand when he can.
I met Conrad Schembri in 2003 when I was looking for a passionate butcher who could supply us with our Lebanese made Maqaneq or Sujuq (Sausages) chicken, lamb, beef, and rabbit.
Conrad helps us find new cuts including offal, and we try different types of sausages together. We both share the same passion when it comes to food and wine.
